Get Adobe Creative Suite 4 working on a Domain based network

Have you installed Adobe Creative Suite 4 and can't actually get anything done in Encore or Soundbooth because they will not open old projects or maybe not even open at all? It's probably because you are trying to use it on a domain and have folder redirection on. Apparently Adobe don't think you are going to use their programs on a network! This is how I managed to get Adobe Encore CS4 and Soundbooth CS4 working in the end.

1. Open Adobe Drive
2. Move the cache to somewhere like this (create the folder first):

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\CS4ServiceManager

3. Exit Adobe Drive
3. Open Premiere and create a project (doesn't matter what)
3. Open Edit - > Preferences - > Media
4. Move the Media Cache Files & Media Cache Database to somewhere like this (don't forget to create the folder first!!):

C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Media Cache

5. Exit premiere
6. Install any Adobe updates that might be available.
7. Restart your computer and log in again.
8. Hopefully you will be able to open Soundbooth, open projects in Encore and import media.

To make sure the paths are right you can open regedit and go to here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
-> Software
-> Adobe
-> Common
-> MediaCache

Check that the following registry keys are pointing to the MediaCache folder you created earlier:

DatabasePath2
FolderPath

Good luck!
